"The Puppy Papers"
Here is where you will find the diary of events leading up to our
latest litter and the progress of the resulting puppies.
Not for the faint of heart, the following entries tell it like it
is, including details of breeding, birth and feeding
RAW.
Start at the bottom as the most recent entries are at the top.

24 April 2007
This is Tara's expected due date. I'm afraid that what we have been suspecting has happened.
Tara has reabsorbed the pups and is no longer pregnant. She looks like she deflated and has a tuck with no indication
of puppies. Tara is doing fine, but seems a little out of sorts. She is getting extra pats and cuddles.
This concludes 'The Puppy Papers' for Tara's planned 2007 breeding.
17 April 2007
Tara is not getting any larger nor is she as large as I would expect her to be this far into whelp.
We can no longer hear puppy heart beats and are fearing the worse: Reabsorbtion.
Here is an Article
on reabsorbtion that explains the process a little. We are all very dissapointed.
I think Tara is more dissapointed than all of us. She was so excited when I was getting the Puppy
Intensive Care Hot Box ready for her litter. She got in and sniffed around and was not happy until it
was cleaned to her satisfaction. Then I took it and disinfected it ... I don't think she approved of
my cleaning up after her ;)
28 Mar 2007
We listened to puppy heartbeats today. They sound like little washing machines.
There doesn't seem to be more than one or perhaps two in there.
20 Mar 2007
Day one for testing for pregnancy. Tara was placed on the grooming table and we were performing the test.
When I heard the audible tone that indicates pregnancy I was so excited I squeeled! Tara just calmly
looked back at me as if to drolely say ... " Well ... I could have told you that."
23 Feb 2007
We have had Brooke with us all week. He and Tara keep trying to 'do the deed' but they are
having trouble getting the 'angle of the dangle' to work. Tara is slightly taller than Brooke.
We have tried making a platform for Brooke to stand on behind Tara ... that didn't work.
We have even tried holding him in the appropriate position amoung other even stranger things.
This afternoon I collected Brooke and we performed an Artificial Insemination (AI).
It went flawlessly ... if you do not count Allan almost gagging at the thought that
he might get some of Brooke's sperm on him ;) It was his (Allan's) first time!
Tara will now have nothing to do with Brooke. I do hope it is because she 'knows' that she is pregnant!
We will start testing Tara for pregnancy with the Draminski
Canine Pregnancy Detector starting on the 20th of March 2007.
We used the Fertile Focus
Ovulation Predictor on Tara today. We got ferning!! This means that she should ovulate in about 3 to 3 1/2 days, that would be 20th of February.
Tara's due date will be no earlier than the 24th of April ... that is if we ever accomplish the 'deed.'
