breeding

i have a 5 year old bitch that i have not been successful in getting pregnant. She comes into season every 4-5 months - i have been told that these bitches don't ovulate on ever season when they cycle this often. i thought she was pregnant the last tme we bred her, but then she wasn't (possbly re-absorbed?) She could be ovulating early as well. So, i have given her 2 courses of hormeel and and 2 of the Simplex F. I have spoken with the stud dog owner and she is agreeable (I think) to the stud dog coming to live with us when she comes into season, and stayign until she is out... I plan on doing as many breedings, AIs or whatever it takes as i can..I have just ordered a variety of products to test for ovulation as well as to support the pregnancy (Viburnum 30x).. If this doesn't work.. then i give up!!! :o

You sound as frustrated as I was........ She sounds like a close line-bred bitch, like mine. Finally, after 3 yrs. of trying... she became preggers, but only after I lost an implant breeding of Patent's first. That seemed to do something.... Because the next time she came into heat, she was so swollen, I knew this was different from all the other years... (like yours). Bingo... Nate got her and she had 5 babies. But, to make it even more amazing.... this bitch never wanted to be bred... she was a roller coaster and would hit the grass as soon as the male came close. I was alone with her in the kennel and put a harness on her and hooked her up so she wouldn't bolt. Nate only had an outside tie with her for 45 seconds... I'm amazed it worked!!!

Actually, she isn't line bred at all, but her mother was a challenge as well. she had 3 litters- none of them was by design but by luck.. you never knew when she was in season and she came in every 4-5 months too. Like I said, I am pulling out all the stops on this one. ;) this will likely be my last GSD litter, the next litter will be SW dachshunds.
